The Competitive Shag Association, provides an annual schedule of sanctioned and non-sanctioned dance events that include divisions for the Amateur, Novice (intermediate) and Pro (advanced) dancers.  Occasionally Junior and Senior dancers are included in the competitions as well.

The Events consist (usually) of a week-end of divisional competition, food, fun, friendships, workshops, awards and prizes through out North and South Carolina and, beginning in 2003, in Virginia.  We encourage, promote and share the love of the Carolina Shag with the young and not-so-young.

If you are interested in being a part of this family at some competitive level or you want to come and support your favorite dancers, check our Web-site for schedules and begin to enjoy the dance, the people and the music.

The Richmond Shag Club was formed in 1986 to promote and preserve the Carolina Shag.  The Club has over 400 members and has been a proud sponsor of all of the previous CSA contests held in Richmond.  The RSC is honored to be the host of the 7th Anniversary of CSA competition in Richmond.

The RSC meets twice a week at Visions Dance Club in the Holiday Inn Select- Koger South, has an annual weekend dance party (to be held in August in 2009) and hosts many other dance events throughout the year.
